Noah's Wish Events 2007
Last Posted: December 20, 2007
Lake Tahoe, El Dorado County California
On Saturday Dec. 15th, Noah's Wish volunteers traveled to Lake Tahoe to pick up the command trailer and return it to our El Dorado Hills storage facility. (Thanks Kevin and Becky.) The trailer had been on loan to
El Dorado County Animal Control for their use at Lake Tahoe while a new County facility was being constructed. County personnel expressed their thanks to Noah's Wish for the loan.
New Milford, Conn. Disaster Drill November 10, 2007
Noah’s Wish Region Four, was part of a full-scale emergency drill in New Milford, Connecticut on Saturday, November 10th . The Noah’s Wish East Command trailer, and two horse trailers were utilized.
Many area NW volunteers participated. All three Region Four Coordinators Dianne Montague (acting Public Information Officer), Paul Cimmino, Marge Thorpe and Jo Ellen Cimmino were kept busy.
Paul was the safety officer and fleet coordinator, Marge the shelter coordinator. Additionally, JoEllen is the Noah’s Wish Director of Animal Health Services.
A great group of volunteers turned out; Jan Freas, Marianna Mahaney, Donna Cote, Terry Blake, Mary Minkoff, Tibby Clark, Melinda Plasse, Barbara Russo, Chris Kubis, Ann Turnasella,
Chama Silverman and two convergent volunteers, Betsey and Dave all contributed to a very successful event.
The coordinators and volunteers set up a shelter, performed animal intake, operated the shelter and did animal reclaim. (returning the animals to their owners)
NW also, had a community outreach tent with computers set up to show the web site and pictures from disasters responded to this year. It was really exciting to say Noah’s Wish responded to 3 fires this year.
This event was covered by the press and TV and the Mayor stopped by to see us. We stressed to people the need to be prepared and gave out leashes to start their home evacuation kits.
These community drills are essential to our ability to “Be the best” in saving animals in Disasters…..Many thanks to all that participated.

Command Trailer on loan to El Dorado County Animal Control.
On Sunday, October 22nd. Noah's wish Coordinators and Volunteers transported a Noah's Wish command trailer to the construction site of the new Lake Tahoe Animal Control building.
The trailer is currently on loan to serve as a temporary holding facility while the County site is being completed. Noah's Wish and El Dorado County entered into this agreement
to best serve the needs of animals at South Lake Tahoe, the site of the devestating Angora fire in June. This is a good example of what govermental and private sectors working together can accomplish.

Charlie Crosby and Becky Oliver participated in the AT&T Second Annual Disaster Preparedness Fair held at the AT&T large complex in San Ramon California. The event took place over a four day period and was well received by the participants. More than 3,000 vistited our booth.

Noah's Wish Coordinators gathered September 28,29 and 30 in a planning and strategy meeting to chart the course course for 2008

Participants found the interaction and discussion group activities spirited and very productive

Planning the upcoming training season was also high on the agenda. Progress was made on setting next years schedule, course content and locations.
And of course, there was time to kick back, relax and enjoy the local spa

No meeting would be complete without those mandatory bellie rubs!

A GIGANTIC thanks to Tammy-Hann Harlan for opening her beautifull home for the coordinators to use.

A SPECIAL thanks to Alex Reynold's sister, Debbie Adams for preparing the meals for the group. What a fabulous job she did!!!
