The Sacramento Region Citizens Corp held its second annual National Emergency Preparedness Conference beginning October 11, culminating in a large disaster response drill on Saturday, October 13, 2007.
The purpose of the conference was to bring together emergency responders and disaster preparedness workers from across the nation to network and learn from each other the new best practices in real-time and real-world response.
The conference provides an excellent opportunity to meet and connect with organizations throughout the United States.
This is the second year Noah's Wish has participated in the event.
New at this year's conference was the addition of an animal component to the disaster drill. Noah's Wish was selected to be the only responder and played a key role in sheltering and caring for animals that had been displaced by flood waters (the drill code name was “Noah’s Ark”, no kidding). Our objective was to setup and have operational a shelter within 1 hour of receiving the callout. All objectives were met, and most exceeded expectations. Great job team!
